Delete your account

How to delete your Food Info account and everything we hold about you, what goes immediately, and the one thing that does not.

Last updated:

Which app this is

Food Info, published by DCPNET LTD (Company No. 15734157) of 30 Vane Close, Norwich NR7 0US, United Kingdom. The same account works on the website and in the Android app, and deleting it from either removes it from both.

How to delete your account

You can do this yourself, in under a minute. It does not need a request or our involvement.

  1. Sign in at food-info.org/auth/login.
  2. Open Your account, or choose Account from the menu.
  3. Scroll to Delete your account at the bottom of the page.
  4. If you want a copy of your data first, use Download my data just above it. This is the only chance: after deletion there is nothing left to export.
  5. Choose Delete my account…, then confirm with Yes, delete everything.

Deletion happens immediately and cannot be undone. There is no recovery window and no support process that can bring an account back.

If you cannot sign in

If you have lost access to your email or password, try resetting your password first, since that restores access to the self-service route above.

If that is not possible, contact us from the email address on the account and ask for it to be deleted. We will verify that you own the address before deleting anything, and complete the request within 30 days, which is the deadline the UK GDPR sets for an erasure request. We do not offer deletion through an anonymous form, because a form that erased an account on the strength of a typed-in email address would let anyone delete anyone.

What is deleted

All of the following are hard-deleted, not archived or flagged as inactive:

  • Your account record: email address, password hash, display name, and any linked Google sign-in identifier.
  • Your body profile: date of birth, sex, weight, height, activity level, and ethnicity together with the record of your consent to store it.
  • Your food-diary entries and weight log.
  • Your saved foods, saved recipes, search-click history and interface preferences.
  • Your API keys, which stop working at once.
  • Your practitioner and widget configuration, including practice branding and any client invitations.
  • Your AI usage history and any meal plans attached to the account.
  • Any messages you have sent us through the contact form.
  • Your push-notification subscriptions.

Any active subscription is cancelled at the same moment, and you will not be billed again. Your Stripe customer record is deleted with it.

What is kept, and for how long

One thing survives deletion, and it is a legal obligation rather than a choice:

  • Payment records held by Stripe. Stripe retains invoices for up to 30 days after the customer record is deleted, then purges them. Separately, DCPNET LTD is required to keep the financial record of a sale for 7 years under HMRC rules; that record is the transaction, not your Food Info account, and it is held by Stripe rather than in the app.
  • Server logs may briefly contain a request that mentions your account, and are rotated out within 90 days. They are not indexed by user and are not used to reconstruct a deleted account.
  • Anything you asked us to publish. If you contributed a recipe or a photograph and asked for a credit, that credit is public by design. Deleting your account does not take it down. Ask us and we will remove or change it, on the terms in section 6a of the Terms & Conditions.

Nothing else is retained. There is no shadow copy, no soft-delete flag, and no backup from which an account is restored after deletion.

Deleting some data without closing your account

You do not have to delete everything to delete something:

  • Individual food-diary entries can be removed from the Tracker at any time.
  • Your ethnicity, and our record of your consent to store it, are erased together the moment you untick that box on the account page and save.
  • Any field of the body profile can be cleared by emptying it and saving.
  • API keys can be revoked individually from the Developer page.
